Sarah said...

"Hi." A guy said as he sat down on the couch next to me. The party was loud. Loud music and loud people.
I smiled at him as I turned to him. I took a sip of my daquiri.
"I'm Less. Don't think I've seen you before." He said.
"I'm Taylor." I said.
"Cool." He smiled.
"I'm new." I said.
"I'll be a Sophmore this year." He said.
"Freshman." I giggled.
He smiled. "You single?"
I thought about it for a second. "Yes."
"Cool, cool." He said. "You here alone?"
"Save me." Jasmine said as she was running up to us. She plopped down onto the couch next to me. "Oh my god. Tell him something about me he will hate." She whispered. I looked up. A very nerdy looking guy walked over to us. "Lucy?" He asked.
I gave her a strange look. "Yes?" She asked.
"She's a lesbian." I blurted out. She looked at me and her eyes got huge. "I'm her girlfriend." I told him.
"But, she agreed to watch the sunset with me." He said. His voice was weird.
"Oh, really?" I asked sounding jelous.
"Um." She said looking at him, then me. She put her arms around me. "Sorry baby." She told me. I tried not to laugh. The nerd walked away.
"You told him your name was Lucy?" I asked laughing.
She laughed.
"I'm confused." Less said.
"Oh." I said laughing.
"We're not really into girls." She told him.
"Oh I see. Just trying to get rid of that guy." He laughed.
Just then, he walked back up to us. "Maybe you'd both like to watch the sunset with me. I can bring a blanket." He winked.
"I'll be with them tonight, but we're not gonna have time to watch any sunsets." Less said.
The nerd looked at him, sighed and then walked away. When we saw him turn the corner down the hall, we couldn't help but laugh. "This is my dorm mate by the way." I told him.
"Jasmine. Not Lucy." She said smiling.
"Nice to meet you Jasmine Not Lucy." He said.
She giggled.
"Can I get you girls a drink?" He asked.
"Sure." I said.
"Another Daquiri?" He asked.
I nodded and he looked at Jasmine. "Do you have any weed?" She asked him softly.
"My friend does." He said. He looked over at me. "No thank you." I said.
"Come with me." He told her. She got up all excited and followed him down the hall. He came back alone with a daquiri in his hand. He handed it to me. "Thanks." I said.
"She's in the game room down the hall." He said.
"Okay." I said.
He picked up a big book of cd's from the coffee table and started looking through them. "Shitty, shitty. . . shitty." He said as he was going through them.
"The Beatles are great." I said.
"Not my thing." He said.
"And what is your thing?" I asked.
"Rap mostly." He said. "Here we go. This is a classic." He held up a cd. It was an old Warren G cd.
I laughed. "I'd rather hear The Beatles."
"Is that all you listen to?" He asked.
"Mostly 80's." I said.
"Rock?" He asked.
"Some. I like pretty much any 80's music." I said.
"Cool." He said. "When you get settled in school, you'll have to let me come check out your collection."
"Okay." I said.
I saw Lucy dancing out of the kitchen. I laughed and pointed at her. "That's my cousin." I said.
"She's already drunk hu?" He said.
"Oh yeah." I said. "Definatly."
We laughed.
"Have you had much to drink?" I asked.
"Nope. Just one beer." He said.
"Would you be able to drop us back off at our hotel later?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure." He said. "I don't plan on drinking much tonight. I've got to get up early tomorrow for work."
"Thanks." I said smiling.
"Of course." He said.
