Chapter 7

Sarah said...

"Taylor!" I heard my Mom shout.
"WHAT?" I shouted back.
"Come out here!"
I put down my History Prep Book and walked out to her. When I got to where she was, Dina's brother was standing next to her with a box.
"Hey, Brandon." I said.
"Dina had a list of things jotted down in her journal that she wanted you to have if anything were to ever happen to her. We wanted to make sure you got the things she wanted you to have." He said holding out a big box.
He laughed. "You're getting a lot of her clothes, her journal and a few other things." He said.
"Oh. Thanks." I said taking the box from him.
He smiled. "Keep in touch, alright?" He said.
I nodded and smiled.
As he went to leave, I set down the box. "Wait, Bran, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked.
He turned around. "Um, yeah sure." He said.
I stepped outside with him and we started to walk. "How is everything going?" I asked.
"Good. I finally get to start at BU next semester." He said.
"Really?" I asked smiling. "Me too."
He smiled. "I know."
"How is your family and everything though?" I asked.
He sighed. "We're good. Gettin by." He said. "How are you?"
"I'm okay. Getting better as time passes." I said.
"Same here." He said. "My parents are going through hell though with all the hospital bills and court dates."
"They suing Luken's parents?" I asked.
He nodded. "I'm sorry."
"Oh no, it's okay. Understandable." I said, trying to hold in my tears.
"They're only getting what they need to pay for everything. Not trying to get anything extra." He said.
I just nodded and looked to the side as a tear streamed down my face. I wiped it off my cheek quickly, hoping he wouldn't notice. He sighed and put his arm around me. "Any time you wanna talk. . ." He said. He pulled me closer to him.
"Thanks." I said.
"We're selling the house. Moving closer to Berkeley." He said. "They get upset every time they walk by her bedroom."
"I could imagine." I said starting to cry.
"Do you want to come by my apartment tonight? I can pick you up." He said.
Brandon was always like another brother to me. He would pick on Dina and I all the time. He was never mean though. It was always all in good fun. She told me several times that he had a crush on me, but I never beleived her. At that moment, I really wondered if it was true.
"Umm."
He laughed. "Sorry." He said. "I doubt you would want to hang out with an old guy like me."
I giggled. "Twenty-Eight is not old." I said.
"Yeah. I guess not. I'm not looking forward to thirty though." He said.
"It would be fun to hang out." I blurted out. I remembered when we were Freshman, I would always day dream that I was kissing Brandon. I giggled when I thought about it.
"Really?" He asked.
I nodded.
"I couldn't help but notice something she wrote in her journal." He said.
"You were reading it?" I asked.
"No. I was just flipping through and I noticed a picture she drew of you and Luken." He explained. He laughed. "She wrote that you were finally sealing the deal on your relationship in big letters."
"Oh my god." I said.
"Then she wrote in very small letters at the bottom of the page that it would be your first time ever." He said.
"Geez. You shouldn't have been reading that!" I said.
"I was just quickly flipping through the pages and saw the picture. So, I stopped and looked." He said.
"Never touch a girls diary." I said.
"Whoa." He said holding his hands up. He laughed. "Sorry, gee."
"It's just a little embarassing." I said. "And now I am interested in seeing what else she wrote about me."
"Well, she wanted you to have it." He said. "She obviously has no problem with you reading all her personal thoughts."
I smiled. "Yeah."
"How is seven?" He asked.
"Seven is good." I said. We turned around and made our way back to the house. I watched him get in his car and drive off. I went back inside, picked up the box and went to my bedroom. I dug through it to find her diary. I started to read.
