I woke up the next morning to the sun shinning right in my face. I was very hot and uncomfortable. I looked over and Austin was snoring away beside me. I sat up. I was never one to let anyone see me without my make up on. I grabbed my bag and rushed to the bathroom. I washed my face, brushed my hair, quickly gave myself a sponge bath and got dressed. I hoped that nobody heard the water running. I reapplied my make up and sprayed on some perfume before I stepped back out of the bathroom. I went back to Tracy's bedroom. Austin was still asleep. I sat down on Tracy's moonchair and pulled my book out of my bag. I put on my reading glasses and began to read. I heard birds chirping outside. It made me smile. I peaked up over my book at Austin. He looked funny. He had turned over and was laying on his stomach with his legs folded and his butt in the air. Just like a baby. I heard a light knock on the door. I jumped up, took off my reading glasses and the door opened slowly. Calven peaked in. "Hey." He said softly when he noticed Austin was still asleep. "I'm gonna head out. Just wanted to say bye." He whispered. I put my book down. I got up and walked over to him. I smiled. "Okay. Thanks for handing out. I had a lot of fun." I said.
He smiled and blushed. "Did you take a shower or do you always look this perfect right after waking up?" He asked, then blushed a little.
I giggled. "I fixed myself up a bit." I said.
"Call me some time." He said.
I nodded.
"Maybe we could pick up some ice cream or something. Or coffee. Wait scratch that. I forgot you're not a fan of coffee." He said smiling.
"How did you know that?" I asked.
He shrugged his shoulders. "When you're that popular, I guess word gets around." He said.
"Even about me not liking coffee?" I asked. "Come on, I was a dork anyway. Total book worm."
He laughed. "Also beautiful and on the volleyball team." He said.
"Yeah." I couldn't stop smiling.
"Also knew you had a huge thing for me for many years." He said.
I felt myself blush right then and I felt silly.
He laughed. "I always pretty much thought I was out of your league."
"Nah." I giggled.
"Well, like I said. We should hang out." He said.
"I'd like that." I said. "I guess it is time I start making new friends."
"I didn't want to bring that up." He said.
"It's okay." I said.
He smiled. "See ya."
He closed the door. I looked at Austin and he was awake. He sat up. "Let's go." He said, looking a little upset.
He put his pants on and left the room. I picked up my things and ran after him. "See ya." He yelled. I followed him quickly as he stormed out to his car. He got in and slammed the door. I was confused. I got in the car. "You okay?" I asked.
"He's not right for you." He said as he pulled away.
"Right." I said.
He didn't say anything to me the whole rest of the way to my house.
"Just so you know, I don't care who tries to go after me, they're not going to get me. I'm not even close to ready to move on yet. That goes for you too." I said. I got out of the car and slammed the door. I ran inside and went straight to my bedroom. I started crying. I picked up my favorite picture of Luken, Dina and I. It was right after Dina got her hair cut short and she hated it. The three of us hung out in my bedroom talking and playing games all night. We all had a really great time that night. Dina and Luken got drunk too, so it was very entertaining for me. I started to blame myself for the accident. If I would have just stayed sober, I could have driven us safely to the hotel. I layed back on my bed. I couldn't stop crying as I stared at the picture. I heard my bedroom door open. It was Mark. "You wanna talk?" He asked.
"They were just so young." I sobbed. I sat up and he sat down on the bed next to me. He hugged me. "I really loved him." I said.
"I know." He said softly.
"Why did I have to drink? Why couldn't it be me that went away?" I asked crying harder. "Why Dina? She was going to go to college."
"Things happen for a reason." He said. "Sometimes things get rough in life, but you can work through those rough times. You've got me. You've got Mom and Dad. Austin. . ."
"Yeah, Austin's really fucking helping me get through this!" I shouted as I let go of him.
"He's hurting too. I'm sure he is doing the best he can." He said.
"By trying to fuck me?!" I yelled.
Mark stood up. "What?"
"Yeah." I said as I sat back down on my bed.
"Are you sure? Maybe you took it the wrong way." He said.
"I'm sure."
"He's not thinking straight and he needs the closeness." He said. "I'm sure that's it."
"I need it too." I said.
"Why don't you call Jake?" He asked.
"I'm not going to make a booty call to make myself feel better. I don't think sex is the answer either." I said.
"Sex releives a lot of things." He said.
"Okay, where is my big brother and what did you do to him?" I asked, letting out a smile I tried my hardest to keep in.
He laughed. "I'm just sayin. . ." He said. "Shut up. I'm trying to help you out."
"Maybe the way I deal with things is different than your way." I said.
"You always wanted Jake and he always wanted you." He said.
"What? He never wanted me." I said.
"Are you kidding me?" He said laughing. "You were all he talked about this past year."
Jake was Mark's best friends little brother. He went to school with me up until High School, because they moved into a new house a few towns away. I did always find Jake very attractive. He was built perfectly and had the most gorgeous green eyes I had ever seen. I started to think about Mark's answer to my problems. I knew it was a crazy idea and I could just see Luken looking down at me with shame.
"I don't know about that, Mark." I said.
"Their number is up in the cabinet if you want to call him." He said. He smiled and winked at me.
I rolled my eyes. "You're a dork." I said.
